In the late 1990’s, a number of people from around the country met in Little Rock for two weeks of evangelism. Little Rock Bible Chapel was formed as a result of that outreach and began meeting soon after, eventually moving to the current location on Reservoir Road. The existing house on the property was renovated and served as our meeting room until construction of a new building was finished in 2010, allowing more space for meetings, Sunday school, and fellowship.
Little Rock Bible Chapel is an autonomous, nondenominational church, but it also traces much of its spiritual heritage back to an 1800’s group of Christians who later were called Plymouth Brethren. Many in this movement sought to restore simplicity to church meetings and to focus once again on Christ, becoming known for:
- Devotion to Christ
- Adherence to the authority of Scripture
- Frequent celebration of the Lord's Supper
- Priesthood of all believers
- Plurality of church leadership
- Freedom to exercise spiritual gifts
- Expectation of the soon return of Christ
- Belief in the imperative of the gospel
